2027 Summer Composition Intensive at North Park University 
Sat. July 17-Sat. July 24, 2027

The Summer Composition Intensive returns to North Park University, a beautiful campus nestled in Chicago's north side. We will be housed in excellent air-conditioned facilities in the music building attached to Anderson Chapel, including a large presentation/workroom, faculty offices for lessons, plentiful practice rooms for private work, a strong Wifi signal, space for food storage, and an area for coffee and tea preparation. There is plenty of free parking on campus as well as the nearby CTA Brown line and several bus routes. Nearby restaurants are abundant and varied. Housing options are listed below and include homestays, dorms at NEIU, and find-you-own. 

This year's 8-day design includes:

• July 20 concert of chamber works by Intensive faculty as part of New Music Chicago Presents concert series
• Two resident composers (Zae Munn and Joshua Marquez)
• One guest composer (TBA)

• 5 one-hour private lessons 

• 3 presentation/prompt/masterclass cycles lasting 2-3 days each
• Short presentations by each participant

• Enrollment limit of 12-13 with a minimum age of 18; ages typically range from 20 to 65+
• Instructional Fee is $825. This is separate from the more variable housing and food costs
• Homestays are a single payment to your host of $200; dorm costs in 2026 were $55 per night.

Applications open on Feb. 1 and end April 1 with notifications made very shortly thereafater. The form is online and there is no charge. Once submitted, Zae Munn will contact you to request 2 pdf scores and optional sound files.
